Under Mayor Gamba’s leadership, Milwaukie lead the region in passing the first Climate Action Plan of it’s kind. While our forests burn and global temperatures rise, Milwaukie must do our part to reduce emissions, restore our natural environment, and protect the flora and fauna that live in our city.
WHAT Will WILL DO AS Mayor:
Build walkable neighborhoods that put homes, shops, and daily needs within walking distance, cutting the miles residents have to drive and making Milwaukie more livable block by block.
Meet Milwaukie's tree canopy goals and push for green building standards so new development strengthens our tree canopy instead of shrinking it, and new construction relies less on fossil fuels from day one.
Advance animal protections that align city policy with our climate goals and recognize the moral worth of the other living beings who call Milwaukie home.
WILL'S TRACK RECORD:
Delivered a stronger tree code that holds developers accountable, preserves Milwaukie's large heritage trees, and makes it simpler for residents managing trees on their own property, a critical step toward meeting the city's long-term canopy goals.
Secured the Safe Streets Enhancement Fund to make walking and biking safer across Milwaukie, cutting down on unnecessary driving and the emissions that come with it.
Passed Neighborhood Hubs Phase 2, zoning changes that bring homes closer to the places people need to go, laying the groundwork for the walkable, low-emission neighborhoods Milwaukie needs.
