PRIORITY
Invest in Our Parks
It's past time to fix Milwaukie's parks system. Residents pay into a regional district with little say in how their dollars are spent. Will is committed to negotiating a real governance solution, delivering Milwaukie Bay Park, and investing in parks in every neighborhood.
WHAT Will WILL DO AS Mayor:
Negotiate a governance solution with the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District that gives Milwaukie residents a real voice in how their park dollars are spent and ends taxation without representation.
Finally deliver Milwaukie Bay Park, pairing Phase 3 funding with Metro Community Choice grants to deliver the amenities this community has been promised, including an amphitheater, splash pad, and a swim dock where families can connect with the Willamette.
Build new parks and make meaningful improvements at existing ones so every neighborhood has access to well-kept green spaces and the amenities that make them worth visiting.
Meet Milwaukie's tree canopy goals by investing in urban forestry and ensuring new development contributes to, rather than diminishes, our green infrastructure.
WILL'S TRACK RECORD:
Spent the last year and a half negotiating with the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District to finally move Milwaukie Bay Park forward, pushing for a deal that delivers on a promise this community has been waiting on for years.
Delivered a stronger tree code that holds developers accountable, preserves Milwaukie's large heritage trees, and makes it simpler for residents managing trees on their own property, a critical step toward meeting the city's long-term canopy goals.
